Yes. The formula contains lavender and neroli essential oils. They are included in carefully considered amounts to bring a subtle sensory dimension to the everyday ritual of caring for your skin. Their role is intentionally complementary as the formula and skin-care purpose always come first. We list both clearly in the full ingredient list.
Why does Matera use essential oils during pregnancy?

We understand why essential oils can raise questions during pregnancy. Matera uses carefully considered amounts of lavender and neroli as part of the complete finished formula to create a subtle, comforting sensory experience. We consider the ingredient, the amount used, how the product is applied, and the finished formula as a whole. If you have a known sensitivity to essential oils or fragrance components, review the full ingredient list before use.
Does the cream contain preservatives?

Yes. Because this is a water-based formula, an appropriate preservation system helps protect the product from microbial contamination throughout its intended shelf life and everyday use. We use preservatives for that functional purpose and list them openly in the full ingredient list.
Why does it contain phenoxyethanol?

Phenoxyethanol is part of the formula’s preservation system. The Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety of the European Commission has assessed phenoxyethanol as safe for cosmetic use as a preservative at concentrations up to 1.0%. Matera uses preservatives within applicable cosmetic safety requirements and as part of the complete finished formula.
Does it contain silicones?

Yes. The formula contains dimethicone and dimethiconol. They are functional ingredients within the complete formulation and contribute to the product’s texture, skin feel and overall performance. Matera does not exclude an ingredient simply because it is synthetic, just as we do not include an ingredient simply because it is natural.
Why does it contain Ceteareth-20?

Ceteareth-20 is used as a formulation ingredient that helps oil- and water-based components come together into a consistent emulsion. We consider ingredients such as emulsifiers as part of good formula design and list them openly rather than hiding less familiar names.
What does Dermatologically Tested mean?

It means the finished product has undergone dermatological testing according to the testing protocol used for the product. It should be understood as information about the finished product test, not as a guarantee that every individual will respond in exactly the same way.
What does Hypoallergenic Tested mean?

It means the finished product has undergone testing intended to evaluate its hypoallergenic profile according to the testing protocol used. No cosmetic product can guarantee that an individual reaction will never occur. If irritation occurs, discontinue use as directed on the packaging.
